Our vision of ideal open source practices often paints a picture of simple software sharing and unrestricted access to code. However, as open-source software gains more attention, there is a need to reconcile this vision with increasing scrutiny. With regulations like the Cyber Resilience Act proposing "Obligations of open-source software stewards," it's time for discussion on how we reconcile free and simple sharing of knowledge with regulatory attention.
