Schonmal von RSE gehört? RSE steht für Research Software Engineer und beschreibt Personen, die sich mit Softwareentwicklung im Forschungskontext beschäftigen. Das Spektrum reicht dabei von Software entwickelnden ForscherInnen bis zu SoftwareentwicklerInnen, welche Forscher unterstützen.
Mit dem RSE Raum auf der FrOSCon wollen wir vorstellen, woher RSE kommt und was genau es bedeutet. Wir wollen auch die Probleme diskutieren, denen man als RSE begegnet, sowie Lösungsansätze vorstellen.

Die FrOSCon (Free and Open Source Software Conference) beschäftigt sich mit freier Software und Open Source. Seit 13 Jahren findet die Konferenz in den Räumen der Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg statt. Dieses Jahr am 25. und 26. August. Mit ca. 1.800 Besuchern, über 100 Fachvorträgen und über 60 Ausstellern ist sie die größte deutsche Konferenz rund um das Thema Open Source. Ever heard of RSE? RSE stands for Research Software Engineer and describes people involved in software development in the research context. The spectrum ranges from software-developing researchers to software developers who support researchers.
With the RSE room at FrOSCon, we want to introduce where RSE comes from and what exactly it means. We also want to discuss the problems encountered as RSE and introduce solutions.

This year on the 25th and 26th of August. With around 1,800 visitors, over 100 specialist lectures and over 60 exhibitors, it is the largest German open source conference.
